What if one of the ways God answers our prayers is through people?

Many of us want God to make us stronger, more resilient, and more capable. But throughout Scripture, God often provides something different. He places people in our lives to help carry burdens, offer encouragement, speak truth, and remind us that we were never meant to walk through difficult seasons alone.

Some things were never designed for one person to carry.

Whether it’s moving a heavy couch up a staircase, walking through grief, facing uncertainty, or carrying the weight of a difficult season, life eventually teaches all of us the same lesson:

Strength is not the absence of need.

And yet many of us have learned to associate strength with independence.

Being capable.

Being self-sufficient.

Being the one everyone else can count on.

But Scripture paints a different picture.

In this devotional, we reflect on Galatians 6, Ecclesiastes 4, Romans 12, and the story of Moses being supported by Aaron and Hur when he became too weary to continue alone. Together, these passages remind us that God designed His people to carry one another’s burdens.

We’ll explore why receiving help can feel harder than offering it, how God’s provision often arrives through ordinary people, and why community is not an interruption to God’s care but often one of the ways He expresses it.

Galatians 6:2

“Carry one another’s burdens; in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ.”

God doesn’t simply acknowledge that burdens exist. He invites His people to help carry them. Community is part of His design.

Ecclesiastes 4:9–10

“Two are better than one… For if either falls, his companion can lift him up.”

Scripture assumes difficult seasons will come. It also assumes we won’t face them alone.

Romans 12:15

“Rejoice with those who rejoice; mourn with those who mourn.”

God calls us to do more than observe one another’s lives. He invites us to enter into them.

Exodus 17:12

When Moses became too weary to hold up his arms, Aaron and Hur stood beside him and helped carry what he could no longer carry alone.

God did not rebuke Moses for needing help.

He provided it.
