How much of your life have you spent waiting for another day?
Another season.
Another opportunity.
Another version of yourself.
It’s easy to become so focused on tomorrow that we quietly miss the gift God has already placed in our hands. In this devotional, we’ll reflect on what it means to faithfully receive today—not because tomorrow doesn’t matter, but because today is the only gift we’ve actually been given.
Featured Quote
“Today isn’t a rehearsal for life. Today is the life God has entrusted to you.”

About This Devotional
Children have an incredible ability to enjoy the gift that’s right in front of them. They aren’t worried about next year’s birthday or next Christmas—they’re completely captivated by today.
Somewhere along the way, many of us lose that.
We replay yesterday’s regrets, rehearse tomorrow’s worries, and quietly miss the ordinary moments where most of life is actually lived.
Drawing from Psalm 90, James 4, and the example of Jesus, this devotional explores what it means to receive today with gratitude instead of fear. We’ll discover that stewardship isn’t about controlling tomorrow—it’s about faithfully caring for the life God has already placed into our hands.
Because today isn’t simply preparation for life someday.
Today is the gift.
Scripture Focus
Psalm 90:12
“Teach us to number our days carefully so that we may develop wisdom in our hearts.”
Moses doesn’t ask God for more days—he asks for wisdom to faithfully use the ones he’s already been given.
James 4:13–15
James reminds us that tomorrow is never guaranteed. Rather than trying to control the future, we’re invited to trust God with it and faithfully steward today.
Colossians 3:23–24
Even the most ordinary acts of faithfulness become acts of worship when they’re done for the Lord.
1 Corinthians 6:19–20
Our bodies are gifts God has entrusted to us. Caring for them isn’t about earning worth—it’s one expression of gratitude for what we’ve already received.
Reflection Question
Where have you been spending more energy—regretting yesterday or worrying about tomorrow?

Final Thought
Most of us spend far too much time reaching for tomorrow.
Planning it.
Worrying about it.
Waiting for it.
But God hasn’t asked us to carry tomorrow before it arrives.
He’s simply invited us to receive today.
To notice the ordinary moments.
To care well for the life He’s already entrusted to us.
To take one faithful step.
Because a life well lived isn’t built someday.
It’s built today.
One grateful heart.
One ordinary moment.
One faithful choice at a time.
