Episode 14: When Your Body Speaks
Our bodies often whisper long before they shout.
Sometimes the signals are obvious. Sometimes they’re easy to explain away. And sometimes life is so full that we convince ourselves we’ll deal with it later. In this episode, I share the story of mini-strokes no one noticed, a month-long migraine that led to brain surgery, years of metabolic struggles, and what I’m learning now about listening without panic and caring for my health without living in fear.

About This Episode
There is a pattern that runs through much of my health story.
Denial.
Not reckless denial. Functional denial.
The kind that says, “I’ll deal with it after this season.” The kind that keeps moving because other people need you. The kind that mistakes overriding symptoms for strength.
In this episode, I share the journey that began with a confusing Facebook post in a Costco parking lot, continued through mini-strokes, a month-long migraine, a diagnosis of Moyamoya disease, and two brain surgeries in 2014. I also reflect on the years that followed—learning to rebuild trust with my body, navigating diabetes, weight loss and regain, hormone changes, cataracts, and the ongoing challenge of creating sustainable rhythms instead of living in crisis mode.
We’ll talk about medical trauma, health anxiety, denial, self-advocacy, and the difference between relief and trust. Most importantly, we’ll explore how healing often begins when we stop treating our bodies like enemies and start listening to what they have been trying to tell us all along.
If you’ve ever ignored symptoms because life was busy, felt discouraged by numbers, or struggled between control and avoidance, this conversation is for you.
