After a hurricane passes through Houston, it’s easy to notice the broken branches.
What often goes unnoticed are the roots.
The strongest trees remain standing not because of what everyone can see above the ground, but because of what has been quietly growing beneath the surface for years.
Our spiritual lives often work the same way.
While we long for immediate results, God is usually far more interested in cultivating deep roots of trust, humility, compassion, faithfulness, and perseverance. Those roots rarely grow quickly, and they almost never attract attention while they’re forming.
Drawing from Philippians 1:6, this devotional reminds us that God’s work doesn’t stop simply because we can’t see it. He is faithfully carrying His work forward—one ordinary day, one ordinary conversation, and one faithful step at a time.
Because the deepest work He does is often the work we cannot yet see.

God isn’t only interested in beginning His work in us. He is faithfully committed to completing it, even during the seasons when growth feels slow.

Don’t mistake God’s quiet work for absent work.
The God who began a good work in you has never stopped tending the roots.
And one day, you’ll look back and realize He was growing something beautiful all along.
