Devotional 20: When Your Words Don’t Feel Like Enough
There are moments when you can feel the hesitation before you speak.
Not because you don’t care. Not because you don’t have something meaningful to say. But because something inside you questions whether your words will be enough, whether they’ll come out the right way, or whether they’ll be understood at all. In this devotional, we reflect on the possibility that God has never been waiting for perfect words from you in the first place.

About This Devotional
Many of us carry a quiet pressure when it comes to speaking.
We want to say things clearly. Thoughtfully. Carefully. We want our words to be understood and received in the way we intend. And over time, that desire can quietly become hesitation.
We replay conversations.
We edit ourselves before we speak.
We wonder if what we’re about to say will land the way we hope.
In this devotional, we sit with the stories of Moses, Jeremiah, and the words of Jesus. Together, they reveal a powerful truth: God does not wait for people to feel ready, eloquent, or confident before He works through them. Instead, He meets them in the middle of their uncertainty.
Moses believed he wasn’t good with words.
Jeremiah believed he wasn’t qualified.
Yet God’s response wasn’t built around removing their hesitation. It was built around His presence.
If you’ve ever worried about saying the wrong thing, questioned whether your voice matters, or felt pressure to communicate perfectly, this devotional offers a gentle reminder:
You do not carry your words alone.
Scripture Focus
Exodus 4:10–12
“I will help you speak and will teach you what to say.”
God did not require Moses to overcome every insecurity before moving forward. He met him in the very place he felt inadequate.
Jeremiah 1:6–8
“Do not be afraid… for I am with you.”
God’s answer to uncertainty was not qualification. It was presence.
Luke 12:12
“The Holy Spirit will teach you what you should say.”
Even the words themselves are not something we carry alone.
